New York City, New York: June 12, 1982. The largest nuclear disarmament rally in American history took place as a reaction to the perception of the growing danger of nuclear war. Five years later, the U.S. and U.S.S.R. signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty on December, 8, 1987. Approximately 2,692 missiles were destroyed. After Multiple Russian treaty violations, the United States withdrew from the agreement in August 2019.
